Your choice of interior colors : As suggested by Hollywood painting should be a neutral color for a contemporary look. Generally lighter colors are better for longevity. Dark colors are mostly for accent situations or for making a statement.
If you do paint a room with a dark color don't forget you'll probably have to do an extra coat to bring it back to a light color.
99% of the people stick with neutral colors this means that they are not red or blue or green. colors with names starting off with "white" something or "something" white are a good place to start.
If you are painting a bathroom or a kitchen with a very light wall color you might consider painting the whole room including the ceiling with this color. Since when you look at the ceiling in a room and most of time it always seems to be a little lighter anyhow because of the way light reflects. If your walls are a light tone of some kind almost guaranteed your ceiling will look white. And since this is your washroom or your kitchen you are probably using a semi-gloss paint .
It is easier to clean shiny ceiling then a flat ceiling.
Paint for interior
There are few choices of sheens to be chosen from for your rooms. Generally kitchens and bathrooms are as semi gloss sheen level, hallways are either eggshell or semigloss, and bedrooms and living rooms are mostly flat paint or satin.
Painting trim
Trim painting is usually semigloss or gloss. Trim paint should be the best quality you can afford since it will get the most use and abuse. You can buy this trim paint two different basis; Latex or oil base again you can get these colors by using a percentage of the interior colors of your room to give the room a subtle look.
Popcorn ceiling paint
Popcorn ceiling gets dirty over time from the dust in the room and time. It might look white when you're looking at it but when you put a fresh coat of white paint on its you can really see the difference. In an empty room situation permitting you can spray popcorn ceiling paint. If you can't spray in the room you might have to paint the ceiling with oil based paint because you will dissolve the popcorn when the water-based paint hits it. And this will turn into a mess.
Getting rid of gaps
In house painting is common practice first of all in the preparation to fill in all caps and cracks with paintable caulking. Paintable caulking is the caulking that is not made of silicone. It should say on their container "paintable" siliconized caulking
Removing wallpaper
When you're removing wallpaper off the wall that has been prepared properly which means that as being either sized... this means the wall was painted with a material called sizing that fills in the pores of the wall so that the wallpaper glue won't penetrate deep into the drywall paper skin or it has been painted with a shiny oil paint also to do the same thing. This means the glue is only attached to the very top surface of the drywall making it easy for to separate when it becomes wet.
When this has been done it's a very simple to drench the wallpaper until it's soaked all the way through with a roller and removing it with a wide scraper blade usually I use a 4 inch plaster knife with slightly rounded edges not to scrape the wall itself.
